down river from here in the Gulf of St. Lawrence German U-boats operated and sank shipping during WW II - this was trip a few years ago where I visited Gros Ile, the immigration quarantine island for Quebec. In 1848, the time of the potato famine in Ireland, many emigrated on poor condition ships and died. Many died on this river before reaching the new world.
Great composition of St Laurence,so impressive image for me, because my grandfather was officer of marchant ship and I have here the pic took by him about in 1890,ascending the river to lake Ontario.Very thanks.
