Thanks Steve yep I can see I am often guilty of the tilted earth fault. Thank you for pointing it out makes me more aware of it for future shots.

Hi Alison -
I like the angfle this was shot from - really makes you feel small :) Composition is really nice - and, yes i prefer the lightened version.
You might also just want to keep an eye out for the horizon line (I've been guilty of gettng that one wrong from time to time too :) )
I think the pic needs rotating about 2 deg or so CCW.
it is a great pick with a nice "industrial" feel to it. i do like the way the sun has caught the smoke.

I find it funny how you mention the 'tiny tug'. Have you ever seen one out of water? They're very deep. ;)

Yeah, Alison, that's better. When you lighten it, there's a more clearly defined waterline that leads the eye right to the tug as well.

overall, this is a good exposure, but it would help cement the ship as subject if you lightened her hull to show a bit more detail.
