Ben,
Thanks for you kind comment! I used to be pretty good, but I've been away from it for so long that I would need a lot of practice to get back to where I was. Maybe someday I'll have extra time!

Let me know if you do dust your violin off! :)

Hi Laurie,
Seems like we share very similar hobbies :)
Wow 10 yrs of violin playing, you must be real good. One thing I would like to point out the D string is one of the easier string to tighten through the knob, but instead you tightened it via the screw at the bottom.

Anyway enough of my crap talk. This is a nice photo which might inspire me to start dusting my violin. I like the DOF and the sepia tone too.
Well done!
Ben

Hey Laurie,

This image is fantastic. I love the sepia tone, and the composition is great.

Well Done, PS: Thanks for your comments.

Fantastic DoF and the sepia tones add some originality. Very nicely presented overall, though I do hate to hear that you are prepared to let 10 years of playing go by the wayside...we do what we have to do I suppose.

Thanks Cheryl! I played for 10 years and gave lessons for a few years.

What a beautiful image. Love the tones but the DOF is perfect! Great shot - the background is excellent for this making the focal so obvious. How long did you play?

Interesting perspective. Nice DOF. Nicely shot. I like it. Seems th best position to shoot a stationary violin.

I LOVE your composition, Laurie...the view that you, the player would see! I think the shallow DOF adds all the more depth to the image, and makes it that much more interesting. Fantastic tones! Well done!

nice shot; well toned.
the challenge is to get a greater DOF at that perspective.

Nice composition, concentrating the eyes on the bridge and tuning screws, Laurie. Very appropriate toning, too.
Kind regards,Chris

Very nice image. The perspective you used here along with the tones and the title create a very warm sense of nostalgia! Nice job! -- Kind regards, Rafael

Glen Gould was a very famous and wonderful Canadian pianist. Haven't you heard of him? I'm a professional musician too by the way.

And I hope you still find some time for your violin. Don't let all those years of practice go to waste!

Laurie Gould   {K:11942} 4/21/2005
Nope, must be another Gould--there are a few of us out there. The violin was a huge part of my life for many years--I played for 10 years and taught for a while. Between graduate school and work, I just didn't have the time to practice. I play every now and again, but now photography is my passion.

Is your father's name by any chance Glen?
