Thanks Jeanette! I'm partial to the blue ones myself--I can't decide if I like this one or blue 2 better though. There are so many different colors when the light hits the cd--I'm sure I'll be back at it again to capture some more hues soon. :)

Laurie the colors here are absolutely gorgeous. It almost has a hypnotic effect on me, and I find myself enthralled with it. Very interesting use of the lens and I'm going to have to look into that technique. I admit that my knowledge of abstract art is limited, but this is a wonderful work of art, and it draws me in. Beautifully presented...all the best, Linda

Arwa, I wish I could take credit for it, but I can't. I was reading up on macro lenses on the forums here and someone mentioned that this would be a good alternative.
Can't wait to see what you come up with! :)

P.J.,
Great detail on your pen! I'm having fun with the reverse lens. I actually ordered extension tubes this week and I'm waiting for them to arrive. Those should do pretty much the same thing as the retrofit, but it will be far less awkward. Oh, and this is actually some CD?s I fanned out.

Thanks Arwa! I took your advice and added it to the #50 project.
The reverse lens (I think it's also called retrofitting) is really easy to do. All you do is take a lens (preferably a 50mm) and hold it up in reverse to the lens mounted on your camera. It works like a macro lens and it works much better than the screw on filters.
In case you do try this technique, I experience a lot of vignetting (sp?) around the edges of the images so I have to crop quite a bit. I read that it works best if you use a long focal length lens (around 105mm) attached to the camera and then reverse a 50mm lens in front of it.
Have fun with it! :)
