About I went to a zoo with my son for the first time in years last weekend. He had a wonderful time but I found myself getting more and more uncomfortable as the day went on. I surprised myself actually. I know the arguments on both sides for zoos but this just felt wrong to me. This baby gorilla was playing and running around in (by zoo standards) a sizeable enclosure but a cage is still a cage. Felt this photo said it. I tried cropping it in different ways, but in the end I've left it as it was taken.

It's more a feeling of being uncomfortable. I'm not about to start a campaign to shut all zoos but there's no doubt I didn't enjoy the day as much as I once would have. My head goes with your comments but my heart is telling me something else. Thanks for taking the time to comment. Much appreciated.

Great capture. Very appropriate for the point many people might make, though he doesn't look particularly 'unhappy' to me.

(The opposite side of the argument is obvious, too: better for him to be safe - in the companhy of others gorillas - in a zoo than to be hunted down by vicious criminals out to make a quick buck.)

This is a sad image and the title is fitting. Very well presented.
