This shot is... well, amazing. Pregnant with form, and so many subtle greys. The play of shadow is sublime. I have a lot of superlatives for this shot, just awesome.

Beautiful tonal range, Bryan. Nice composition for the square format.

The repeating pattern of the dunes is very well captured. I also like the deep shadow in the front dune, and the little texture detail in the far dune.

Very nice work.

A converter from digital to film! Interesting!
Personally I find that theres still a lot of the basic that I have to learn more about before thinking about film, and the reason is the quick feedback I get from the digital camera
But your doing a great job! Cant believe that you started just over a year ago!
WOW!

Love the lines and tones in this image. The yellow filter's added just the right amount of contrast.

Arwa thank you dear. This is interesting question that you ask about tones and film/digital. I started this hobby about 18 months ago -- and I started with a digital camera :O (nikon d100) so I think my perspective on the question is a bit unique because I have done the opposite of what most have done.

personally I think both can record a beautiful fotograph -- no doubt. but I believe if you want to maximize the b/w tonal range (and I'm truly talking about tonal range), then film is best. and as you go up in format (from small to medium to large), the tones just get better and better. there is a striking difference between my 135 and 6x6 negatives. And there is a monumental difference in the 4x5 negatives. for the landscape fotograph, I think this difference is important and quite critical.

of course I am new to all this but I can see this difference with my own eyes -- what is important now is that I learn how to use the formats better - how to manage all these great tones! and once I learn this I must learn how to print :))

ahhhhhh so many things to learn when you are new to this complex passion.

Bryan, I don't have anything intelligent to say..but the composition, tones and detail strike me as..I guess the only word I can think of is stunning. Truly remarkable, and I am in complete awe! If only there was a 10 on the scale. 7/7

Regards

A beautiful and unusual composition. Not a picture to be looked at momentarily but a shot that demands more than passing attention - a fine and elegant abstract!
