About While we're on the motif of powerlines and industry, here's another photo of power lines (and telephone lines) just 5 minutes from my house. You'd never guess it from the photo, but there are houses on either side of the frame.

I made it black and white using a filter in PS, and tweaked the image beyong recognition with contrast and a second translucent layer of high-contrast blur, which makes it feel all glowy. I wanted to make it feel like a very old photograph, and I think it worked pretty well.

It does look like an old photo, but the sky gives away the fact that it isn't. I've yet to see a B&W photo produced from a digital original that captures the look of grain. Nice try, though! We have pylons marching through our area so they often figure in my pictures. Mixed blessing!
