Hi greg... it was pretty cold - but didn't have trouble with lens fogging (until I went back inside!)
Star trails are tricky on digital without generating a lot of sensor noise... need a very long exposure - though a big zoom helps. The closer you zoom the more trail you'll get!

Nice shot. Crisp clear night. I have been trying to get star trails but my lens keeps fogging up. Does this happen for you. may have to try warmer night. Regards greg

I love places where you can see the night sky away from the city lights. First time I saw the milky way I could not believe how beautiful it was. Great shot Steve, looks like a million diamonds across the sky.

Steve,
Nice image. Is that one of the Magellanic Clouds to the left?

Starry nights are always lovely. You obvious enjoy them to stay out in the cold to get a picture. Good job. I've enjoyed looking at it. It's hard to turn the sky around in my head as we are in the northern hemisphere so see the constellations differently. Mary
