Stronc contrast: youngs and old effect.
You should deserve an award for this, IMHO.
Excellent.

I hear you brother-bro with the camera policy, but to be honest I wasn't a bit surpriced. On the other hand I kinda understand the officials here. Name me a magazine or a paper who didn't try to get in there with a photographer. You would have hundreds of guys in the photo pit. I respect that safety should have priority. Well and welcome to the club of the guys who will be treated like Al Qaeda members. Get used to it. Sad but a fact. Why they don't allow cameras for the crowd is a different story. I was on a concert the other day, didn't have a photo pass, but my cam with me anyway. So!!! the policy was no professional equipment. OK! what is more distracting? Me with a pro cam and no flash vs. the other guys with mini digi cams with flash??? WTF!!! However! This photo kicks as and my honest congrats!!!...and thanks for the roses :-) CB

Great capture Thilo, I would like to think that the no camera policy at events like this is enforced more to combat piracy than terrorism. In any case, keep shooting. What a shame if you couldn't get shots like this. Imagine if there were no cameras at Woodstock? Andre

Great work, Thilo. The distortions add to the feeling. You have captured the mood and the atmosphere really well.
It never ceases to amaze me that non-photographers never quite get the fact that it is the photographer, not the camera, that makes a picture.

Great shot Thilo, and very funny story! :) yeah cameras are banned from concerts, and yet you see flashes everywhere after they turn off the lights.

Hi Stefan,
I really like the outcome and was kind of surprised as the light wasn't very comfortable.
the only thing that hinders me to use the Holga more is the fixed shutter =)

VG,Ursula

Hey Kev,
thanks a lot for the story. Had some good laughs, and I know these situations very well.
I forgot to mention that the security guy was about to take my Holga away, despite the SLR/video digicam announcement on the website. It took some time to explain him (well, explaining goes too far, as he was a somehow typical security guy on anabolic steorids) that is a piece of plastic crap, no SLR, no video. ;-)
I got a little loud, I fear.

Hi MaLuisa,
thanks a lot for sharing your terrorist story. We should make T-Shirts saying "hey, we're just photographers and there is NO plan behind it, we just LOVE to make pictures" =)
best wishes,

Hi CorrieLynn,
you're right, I wouldn't go into the mosh pit (great word, BTW) with my D70 equipment =)
So the Holga issue had some good side effects ;-)
thx for the feedback, Thilo

Why consider any other camera when you have your Holga? Excellent job here - first the big letters, then people start filling in all over in the otherwise very dark image.

Love the perspective and the about - this brings up a very interesting point - I ride the train every day with my camera (most times in my bag). One day I was looking at my digital cam (the sceeen) at the pictures I had taken that day. The security guard approched me and asked mt what I waws doing saying he had seen me with a camera at the sation before and that no picture taking was not allowed (keep in mind I was just looking at my camera and there are no laws saying that photography is illegal at the station or on the train). He then demanded my ID and the camera...I refused - he threatend - I told him to F-off (probably not my best effort at resolution)...end result nothing - I got on the train and he never approcahed me again - Like you say we camera packers might as well have terrorist stamped on our heads for the way we are treated some days - I understand it is illegal to photograph on and around the NYC subway - back to your photo - great one here and if you had not said Holga I would not have guessed it as such - this one should make CB pround -- K

I do not know how... but when I say the tittle I knew it was you!!!!!! :)
Great shot... I love that band... There are no such festivals as that here... Love the composition.... Great tones... Definetely A big Hurray!!! for Holga... :)
Speaking of terrorists, at least you were treated like terrorist in the festival... I was treated like terrorist in Mexico each time I took my camera out... No matter where I was, there was always a police or security people telling photographs were not permitted to be taken... As if I was going to be so obvious if I was planning an attack...
I managed to take some though everytime, but I only could do it before I had to get off with my camera... :( It is a shame... but this are the times were are living...
Cheers,
MaLuisa

All i can say is that im jelouse. Extremely jelouse. I would have LOVED to have been at that concert. Sheesh. I dont understand why they let you bring the holga in and not an slr...doesnt make any sense. Oh well. It really turned out well with the holga though. It actually looks really neat. Think about it though, would you have trusted the saftey of your nice slr in a mosh pit? *Shiver* Neat work, as always;)
