About Well, I just got my new macro lens delivered less than an hour ago so I decided to take it outside for a test run. I found this guy on one of our bushes--he just hatched out this morning. When butterflies hatch out they have to rest for a while to get blood flowing to their wings and this one was just about ready to go on his way. He let me take tons of pictures and didn't really seem too concerned that I was there.

Laurie this is beautiful! Congratulations on the new lens, I know you're going to love it. I love my macro and doing macro work. This is wonderful...love the colors and the composition. Thanks for your comment and it's so great to be back, I've missed you, UF, and all of my friends. I see you've done lots of new stuff, and that I have a lot to catch up on.... hugs...:):)Linda

Thanks Laurie, I will have to do this. I have a little girl at home that loves butterflies so this would be something great for her to watch. Thanks for the information K

Thanks K! If you want to attrack monarch butterflies to your yard plant lots of milkweed. The monarchs lay their caterpillar eggs on them becuase that's the only thing that they will eat. Monarch caterpillars will starve rather than eat something else. We've had at least 10 butteflies emerge this week. They are everywhere--on plants, in our driveway, on our grass. The whole process is really pretty cool to watch.

Now I know the secret to catching butterflies, I never have any luck with these guys but this is very beautiful. Great dof colors are wonderful, and perfect details. Good job K

Teresa,
Thanks for your kind comment. :)

I love the lens! Until now all I had were close up filters or I would hold up my 50mm lens backwards to get macro shots. This lens is a vast improvement of those! I looked through your portfolio and saw some really great butterfly and bird shots (and some other really great shots too!) and this lens would probably suit your needs very nicely.

Great first!!! Beautiful colors, good DOF (would've liked the wings a bit crisper...) and great crop/composition... well done and happy hunting!!!
