Merci, drilan

Todd, Firstly I must congratulate you on your ?Double Decker? award. The image as already stated by people more knowledgeable than me, is very simple and yet very effectively geometrically displayed. Most of us would have just walked on by a million times and would have never even noticed a potential great picture here. Secondly can't help but think whether this is the Edina mall area? Having gone to this mall numerous times (mainly because of my wife) I know what you mean by bring money!!! LOL
Take care and congrats,
Saqib Zulfiqar

thanks for the comment Michael...looking at your portfolio, don't think i'd call you a 'newbie!' at any rate, i have really enjoyed the work of Stephan Shore and Andreas Gursky for the last few years...check these guys out if you haven't seen their work. flipping through their books over and over has kind of made this type of image stand out in my mind. i'm always looking for these everyday scenes.

Hey Todd,
don't get me wrong: It's not bad at all ;-)
Two things: first, I know that situation very well if you like to reduce the image to some basics. Second, when I take a look at my first images after discovering the neat effects of neat image, I did way too much in some pictures =)
So: You succeded in making the image more basic and get the focus on the outstanding points. But maybe there is another way to achieve this without the visible loss in detail on the floor ;-)
take care, Thilo

Thilo, your eyes are sharp! i did use excessive neat image here... i wanted to reduce this image to essentially lines and colors, and remove the textures. i didn't get it exactly how i originally intended, but liked the result anyway. thanks much for looking and commenting...

Hey Todd,
great stuff us usual. Congrats on the well deserved award.
I especially like the lines here. The ground looks like as you treated it too much with a noise remover.
anyway, well done ;-)

I'm still trying to contemplate what goes through your mind to say: "that would make a great photograph"... Most of us (me included), wouldn't consider this location.
The composition really makes this a great photograph, but ultimately the subject, color, and just the plain subject of it all really has a thoughtful presentation.
Thanks for posting - you give newbies like me something to consider and a new way of seeing.
