About
We had an interesting and diverse Sunday afternoon. It started at Swedish Day 2005 - a Midsummer Celebration in Geneva, Illinois, where Alexandra was really interested in the old (relative - from 1893) Viking ship.
This Viking ship they had on exhibition is an exact copy of the ship dug out of a mound in 1880 at Gogstad, near Sande Fjord, Norway. It traveled in 1893 from Bergen/Norway to New London/Connecticut in 44 days and arrived in Chicago at the World's Fair on July 12th, 1893 (http://www.naha.stolaf.edu/archivist.htm).

Thank you for your comment and suggestion, Margaret. In deed, at least in the small picture, it looks like eliminating the tent poles would help to picture in removing a distraction.
I guess I am still a little apprehensive making these kinds of changes. They can be done (in many cases even I can do them), but then it is not a picture of what happened any longer. But I have to admit occasionally I have eliminated that ugly trash can or lamp pole from an image before.
Thanks again for your suggestion. I?ll try to find a nice sky and, if it turns out satisfactory, may even repost.
What a lovely and different portrait, . I just found the lines of the roof a tiny bit distracting, wondered if the eye would keep to the beautiful subject if the lines were taken out - had a go - see what you think, but either way it is still a lovely photo Margaret
