I was at a powwow at The Forks here in Winnipeg, and this is one of the candids I took. I felt I had to convert to B&W because the woman in the background had a baby-blue tunic on that was distracting from the elder who was the main focus of the photo.
My thinking was that by going to B&W in post-production, I would at least even out all the colours and give the elder a chance of being the central focus without another distraction. I then added tinting as I felt it conveyed more to the final result.
