About Throughout history photojournalists abroad and stateside have recorded current events relating to war, injustice, and political response...images speak volumes...images with artistic merit can also be valuable to historians...this is mine....
"History is full of examples where people who had right on their side fought against tremendous odds and were victorious. And it is also full of examples of people passively hoping to wait it out, only to get swallowed up by a horror beyond what they ever imagined. The future is unwritten.WHICH ONE WE GET IS UP TO US!"
Photography is one tool.....
This is an educational statement about the power of photography and photographers.....

Comments appreciated about the photo and the about....

Amen, sister. The women were involved in the Civil Rights protests, the war demonstrations, and their own movement. Wonder what would have happened if they had simply kept their mouths shut. We all have a responsibility to fight tyranny even when it is on our own soil. Great image and title. Like that it is somewhat Out of Focus so we can be aware of how imposing and fast moving this can be. Reminiscent for me of the Sixties.

Excellent work, Gayle. I like when the image makes our mind work... and it?s always a register of ones thoughts, emotion, reality, history, as this one. The photojournalism plays a very important role, the way that the reality is shown by pictures can make such a difference in the opinion of the reader.
The impact of pictures are stronger than words.
Well done!, my friend. :-)

Hey Paul, Don't think you'll be able to get that - those days are gone - but how about a small villa in the South of France?(Great Food and Wine, Peace and quite, Nice weather/beaches, etc.etc.) Ready to make a run for it? Nice shot Gayle. Tanks always look best when not blowing up people and neighborhoods (but I'm more than happy to have have my taxes pay for them and not be wasted on silly stuff like National Health Care or some such garbage. Great work on this one. Mark

Another good one Gayle. I like the title too. Where can I send a check for your political campaign? I'll have to check to see what is the maximum I can legallly contribute.

It also reminds me of what was said about 'Nam. We were not allowed to finish off that war (the way we were absolutely capable of) in a matter of a month or two, because the war in 'Nam was making some entities a whole lotta dough. The longer it went on, the mo money was made from the parts and hardware. Of course, that's just a theory, right?

What is the truth? Why is it so elusive?

How provocative, Gayle!.... I will resist "biting" on the political bait, from a personal view. However, your ABOUT raises the really important point...that all of our voices are important. Nothing sizzles me more than when I hear someone say "what we say doesn't matter"... B.S! If I want someone to hear my political ideology, they will hear it. Your point about photography playing an important role in journalism is so true. It not only brings the general population closer to the horrors of war, it also shows us the bravery and valor of those who make the sacrifices.

If only we could be shown the pictures....the good, the bad, the ugly, the victorious, the intensity, the generosity...all of the things that encompass military efforts, WITHOUT the talking heads disguising their personal views as "reporting the facts"....we would be so far better off.

Thanks for the conscientious effort to stoke our collective minds, Gayle. You never disappoint.
..Brad

Gayle, I agree completely.
It frightens me how people are blindly willing to give up freedoms in exchange in for 'added protection'. I do NOT want a safe, fascist state. I want a free republic!

It is certainly frightening to see the direction the U.S. is headed. This is a wonderful photo. I like the toning, angle and the fence in front of the tank. Very well done, Gayle.

I'm with you all the way, Gayle. Cool image, reminds me of the photos from China, 1989. Stand fast, the fascists *always* fall.
