I took probably 160 shots last evening and I've got about 35 good ones. This obviously was one of the best, but you're right it is a much slower focusing lens than my 18-70 kit lens. I have the
D70s and one of the improvements over the D70 was faster focusing, but I 've never shot with the D70 so I have nothing to compare it to. I bought this lens used, a few weeks ago and I just love it. I'm guessing it's about 10 years old, but man the colors and sharpness are wonderful.

Stunning image, David. Outstanding composition.
How did you get the bird so well focused with th 70-210mm? I have been trying similar photos, but my Nikon AF 70-210mm f/4.5-5.6 seems to be too slow in focusing to capture sharp photos from birds in flight.
