About A biking tour after a rainy day, handheld @ 10 mm (1/40 sec, f:5.6). I left the power pole unchanged, sort of compository element. Tried out a dozen B&W versions, this is the one I like most

Wow! Ever looked at something for the first time, and it just bowled you over? It's that same impact. It must be the big sky, but I'm just as impressed with the land. Every blade of grass and every pebble I can make out. The power lines and poles are a critical element bringing a sense of perspective.

It is a great cloud, but the road leading up to it is equally fine in my view. The b/w is very dramatic and effective for this image.

This caught my attention immediately. The fabulous lighting and the lines that draw one's eye to the buildings in the background. I like the silhouette to the right. I can't explian why, but for me, this would be much less of a picture without it. Superb.

Ameed, this was a single vertical shot, handheld, cropped to square. Composite of differently converted RAWs /TIFFs to get the desired tones.

Cheers

Carsten,
There is something I am not sure about in here, Did you follow your way here taking two pictures and stitching them together?!
If so, How did you manage to get it this way handheld?!
Wonderful capture and treatment, very well done,
Regards,

Ciao, Pia

Ferdinand, right you are. I am a big friend of the square @ the moment. This is a crop from a vertical shot, so I could show more farm track, but... I thought it was a nice idea to break the "dead center" rule and make a symmetric shot, sky and farm track corresponding over the center

Cheers

Excellent B/W photo, nice tones and good atmosphere.
I believe you like the square compositions, I do not so much and I like this photo more when the base is a few cm higher.
Kind regards.

Amazing shot, I love how the cloud and the road are level with eachother. The shine on the wet road and the highlighted clouds carry ones eye through the shot nicely. Alison

Michele, thank you for commenting. This cloud was indeed special, because it correlates so nicely with the land geometry.
The EF-S 10-22 mm zoom is mounted 95% of the time on my 300D. For my landscapes, as wide angle freak, the best glass available. Optically, my 17-40/4L is a wee bit better in sharpness and contrast, but is more prone to flare. The 10-22 lens is solid, decent optically, highly recommended IMO.

Ciao

the composition is out of the ordinary, also you managed to retain clear yet soft tones. This is a great image.

A classic 'Ranke' image, Carsten!
Every element adds something to the shot and the whole thing holds together beautifully.
Great work, once again.
Best regards, Chris
