About A grain field I found along my bike tour today. To compensate dynamic range, I used a Heliopan 2 stop soft graduated ND plus a circular polarizer.
Handheld, made three RAW shots in landscape format, to stitch them vertically. Pano with Canons PhotoStitch software, a multiply blended gradient layer mask for the sky (50% opacity), and 30% soft light for the grain field for a bit more color contrast. Sharpening after resizing (original is about 12 MP)

Carsten,
Sehr schönes Bild. Komposition, Farben sind
sehr gut Afgebaut.

Technique and composition are both flawless...these stitch jobs must make for great quality large prints I wouls assume.

Cheers,

Toni, thanks for constructive critique ;-)
Maybe you are right, the sky is not a winner @the top but it is hard to crop if you have spent much time with stitching that part in...

Cheers

This one is really lovely and you've got the color just right. I'd prefer less sky (like your other), as this one is mostly about the beautiful foreground grains and flowers -- I want the focal point to remain there and the sky is distracting from that. So, can I give advice to my hero? :) Antonia

I am sure I have mentioned before, Carsten, I don't understand your explanations of what you do with your shots. However, the results are dramatic and wonderful. This is vibrant and full of life. Superb.

Hi Carsten,

I also like the third rule. ;-)

So my "wish" is to get a longer angle, make the image again and give the foreground 1/3 and the sky 2/3 ;-)

thx for the additional picture,
Thilo

Thilo, thanks for stopping by !
Voilà - here is more sky ;-)

I like a "rule of third" a bit more. A matter of taste, ok.

Regards

Carsten

Lily, thank you for the great compliment, it would be great to reach the gold standard "film" with digital.
My panos are all handheld, with about 50% overlap (the angle depends on the lens, of course). A bit tricky, but with stitching software like Canons PhotoStitch or PanoTools and warping afterwards in PS you can manage small errors from slanting.

Regards

Carsten

Lovely detail in the foreground and a nicely controlled sky. I see you're now combining filters and multi-exposures - interesting stuff.

Hi Carsten,

nice endless view here. I'm thinking about a lower angle to get more of the detailed sky into the picture. Just an idea though ;-)

nice color spots.

best wishes,
Thilo

Just a touch of red color is very classy with the superbly detailed wheat scenery. More like a product of film than digital.

Trying to understand how much overlap there is in between the three shots that you stitched. May I ask roughly how many degrees you rotate the camera for each successive shot? Thank you. :)

The details in this shot are amazing, I love the feel of the neverending field, and as your eye finally hits the horizon you are brought right back towards the front with those amazing clouds. The scattered poppies adds beautiful color to the shot. Alison

the red flowers in the forground is the most beautiful thing for me here. Its the fagile little detail in the huge landscape.

Interisting views. Using your three shots, you managed a scene whole in focus with superb details on corn and poppies while leaving an incredible view on clouds.

Congrats. and thank you for sharing your secrets. Fabio.
