Hi Christian..Welcome to Usefilm and the "Web":) Your very first. How much fun are you in store for? I remember my excitement at finding the world of photography...the computer..and the internet...It's only been since May of 2001 that I discovered the internet and the fun of photography working together. I was very lucky to have found Usefilm right from the very beginning of my journey. Still don't know how I came upon this site but am thankful this is where it all began for me.
I really like the mood here. I like the selective focus, and the grainy black and white.
In retrospect I would have preferred a teensy bit more of his left eye, the whole side of his face is underexposed. I know that dark eye contributes to the mood, and maybe you meant to do that. You want to emphasize that intense, penetrating gaze, and a binocular gaze is more powerful, in my opinion. I would have preferred that his hand be in clear focus as well, and better lighting would have improved that also. Your background is mildly distracting, but you kept that nicely out of focus so it isn't dominant.
Christian, you've got talent. As this is your first image posted here, you've set a high bar.
Christian -- Welcome to Usefilm! I think you did a great job capturing a mood with this image. I find myself only glancing at the figure and then trying to figure out what the light is bouncing off of in the background. --Jamie
