I really like this shot, well composed and great detail and color. I saw a lot of these along my recent route out west but never took time to try and photgraph them. they sit on fence posts and when you slow up they take off. beautiful bird and well captured

Oh yes, they had a theory for that too - in the mouth they found platina and in the stomach this creture had gas, a kind that are explosive and together with the platina ---- oh yes - - there?s a insect that has 100 degrees fliud fire it can spread out when it feels danger... so everything are possible at it seems

I saw a interesting program about Dragons yesterday.... they think they really existed, a kind of dinosaour that survived until 1475...therefore all myth about the dragon. In the program they showed a creature they found in a melting glacier and did a fantastic data animation of it?s look and guessed life. They thought it also fly as the eagle, grabbing each others claw and bring down each other to see if the couple fit for each other.... Well, if it?s truth it would be a world news, not only a documentary.... interesting anyhow.
This eagle made me think of that program, fascinating creature and you captures it so great!

Thanks Lee, It would be my pleasure to be added and add you. I, like you dont have a ton of time to comment on all friends photos everyday, but when I post I do comment on everyone that commented on my last photo as I keep the comments in a new comments folder. and then try to comment on some new shots. This seems to work best for me.
Take care....

Awesome Marcus
You have to be the master at bird shots in my opinion.
Would you mind if I added you to my favorites so I may follow your work?
I won't be commenting on all of your shots, nor would I expect you to.
I just don't have the time.
Love your work.

Thanks David, To be honest there are easy and hard days, look at it like fishing, throw your line in the water some days and catch your limit in 30 mins, another day you may never get a bite :).....

Thanks for the info Marcus,
It does seem around here I'm lucky to get within 50 yards of a hawk. Ospreys are even more shy.
It's a shame that some people have to ruin it for the rest. I've heard that if these birds are too bothered they will not hang around near people long. It's funny how they don't seem to be bothered by cars at the side of the highway, unless you stop to get out with your camera :)

Thanks Andre, I with my 400 DO and the 1.4X can get a hawk size bird within 30 yards, with the 100-400L I need to stay within 20 yards, anything over that is pure luck should I get a keeper.. The secret is as you know getting as close as possible and when i have the prime on the camera it seems i always get too close LOL. where the zoom i never find myself too close but is a bit less sharp.. I actually am having a battle with a fellow bird shooter here as I showed him a spot and were these two hawks nest. but told him to shoo them from a decent distance and not to disturb the nest as they will move, he agreed, then when he went alone I could see right away he parked himself right under the nest and took shoots of them coming and going which pissssssed me off. I wont mention his name but im sure you have seen some talon down shots from up close......

Hi Marcus,
Another wonderful "in-flight" shot. I was following your conversation with David and I like the way you downplay the difficulty of getting these shots. I'm sure you are in a comfort zone when shooting these now, but some people can only dream of getting a shot or two like this.
If you don't mind me asking, how far away from these birds are you when you start shooting. The hawks and other predators around here don't like you to get too close.

I was watching a bird fly by the other day and thought that cant be easy to photograph, and yet here you are consistently getting the most amzing shots.
Is it getting easier or are they all tough :)
