Darlene, With your camera and your skills I don't think you'll have a problem with a little practicing. The real key word is "patience. Like Marcus said you've got to keep that shutter button down so you've got them focused and you're ready when they fly. My problem is getting close enough once they fly but I keep trying! Looking forward to some flying birds in your portfolio now. smiles Marilyn

Thanks so much Marcus, I will try this! I don't do too well with panning, I know I've got to practice this more. And I've got to learn how to HOLD DOWN the shutter button, you're so right about that! Hopefully I'll get a chance to practice this weekend, I'll let you know the results! Darlene

Darlene with your talent I think you could pick it up in like 15 minutes! Just set that camera to center focus point, continous shooting, AV mode, AI Servo, throw on your 100-400 or any handholdable lens start panning and when you get focus shoot the buffer! The average photographer will get like 3 of 10 keeper ratio, you will probably get half, The only real secret is the settings and handheld panning acuracy, The only other problem i often see is people shooting one shot at a time, If there is a bird in focus and you want a nice shot of it flying hold that shutter button down. I dont know why but this is very hard for most photographers, but you would have no problem..
Marcus.

wow darlene, This is a wonderful scene, the different water colors are very pretty. I really like the silhouettes, really a pleasure to just stare at! So A Bird shooting expert, beautiful landscapes, nice portraits. If its not moving I can and will make a mess of it :)
Take care, hope all is well there...
Marcus.
