You've done so many good picture since the last one that I'd seen. I can't comment everyone, so I choose this lovely one to get back in your portfolio. I love the way you managed your black and white picture they looked soft and smooth, beautiful work Rina.
Best regards, and happy new year ! Claude

Well, Rina...I did successfully save the pictures to disk, so didn't really 'lose' them. Just not on the computer anymore and I feel LOST...I'll have to put 'some' back on eventually. And take more :)
Yes it was nasty....took a few minutes to open a page and then a bunch of advertising (not all pleasant) would pop up! The kids are not allowed to be within 25 feet of the computer now! Loving that!! More time for me :)

Of course you were missed! I sincerely doubt I'm the only one who noticed your absence!!!
Geez... must've been some fairly nasty spyware to have caused you so much trouble! Losing your photos to it - ouch!! But look at it this way, at least now you'll have a legit excuse to make the kids dress up again for you :))
In the meantime, I shall be here, silently and patiently awaiting your next posts...

Ha ha...anytime, Rina... ;)
awwwww...I was missed ! or at least you noticed I was gone! Well, I made the mistake of leaving my computer unguarded while I did a rare late evening shopping trip and one of the kids ('J' #3 to be exact!!) accidently downloaded spyware :( I wanted to cry (& commit murder) ;( I spent a LOT of time saving and reformatting my computer. Things are okay now but I kind of lost my momentum on the 'cowgirl' series. Not to mention I haven't any of those pictures back on the computer...plus, I am having a dickens of a time trying to catch up on comments :) You get the idea! Hopefully soon I'll get a chance to post again!
Thanks for asking, Rina! and sorry for the long-winded reply!

Well, I have those same thoughts....and am mental! Not quite sure if that answers you
I struggle with florals, as much as I love them. And I think your lily looks superb!! It's much harder to pull of a b&w of any floral, and I think you have done a fine job of it! Quit beating yourself up...I think I told you this before!!!

This is a beautiful shot Rina! I love the tones and the perfect details on flower. The nice lighting and shadows. After seeing mostly color flowers, your change here is impressive. Its very nice.

You know Ina, I love photoart. I don't do it myself normally, just love browsing through the various good ones here on UF and was immediately attracted to your latest series for that reason. In the end, admiring photoart has likely influenced the way I think about my own work. I know I've improved a lot over the last few months and am pleased with the results, but I want to do... more. At the very least, strive to achieve the 'wow factor'. So, will have to experiment more.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts with me and for taking the time to check out my other work. Much appreciated and always welcomed.
Cheers :)

Very beautiful flower Rina! Love the B & W and the sharpness and the shadows of (I lack the flower vocabulary)the long stems in the center. I'm not a flower shooter (although I've done a few hundreds) but I asked myself the same questions. I'm not posting too many flowers until I know what I want with them. It's good to go into B & W to look at shapes, light and shadows, and not just colors. There is a lot to see in organic shapes, as you know, and color sometimes takes over. As far as cropping, this one is the same in any way you rotate it, so the only thing you may want to try is a square, or even a vertical format, leaving some space at the bottom. But I think it's fine the way it is. I love super-sharp images!

Cheers Ray. Was having a bit of an artistic dilemma, me thinks! I shouldn't rely on PS to create a sense of uniqueness for me. I should be looking at the flowers differently...
Appreciated the feedback on this and thank you so much. :)

Absolutely right Kathy. I think I'm looking at it from the wrong direction... instead of trying to change (in ps) what's already beautiful, I should be challenging myself by shooting alternative perspectives.
Thank you so much for your opinion. It's one thing to receive good technical critique, but even better to know what people are actually thinking.

No sympathy from me Rina 'cos I love floral shots..so there! What you have done here is very brave and something i haven't dared to try. This is a wonderful mono with great details and tones. Goodness knows I've posted my fair share of lillies but I feel there is always room for more, especially those like your one here....Best wishes.... Ray

My goodness Rina you are being too hard on yourself. This is wonderful One of the most beautiful flower images I have laid eyes on. The detail you have captured here is amazing right down to the graduated tones and sparkels of light caught in the petals. This truly is an outstanding image. Yeah you're just mental is you don't like this shot or think it's ordinary in any way. I like to be agreeable so I won't argue that point. :) INto my favourites it goes and belive me I'm quite particular about what goes into my faves. I really love this shot. Cheers - Ann :)

I love the tones you achieved here, Rina! I know what you mean about flowers, but then, it is the same with Autumn colors, or anything else that just screams to have its picture taken. How many pictures have you seen of sailboats, but I still love them. I just love variety, in my own work and in the work of others. I say, keep up the good work! There will NEVER be too many flower pictures!!! Kathy

I love to shoot flowers. And I like this a lot. To try to make em look different, I find myself currently doing 2 things. I isolate parts of the flowers, or shoot a main one with other stuff as framing material or background material. Just remember that sometimes a plain old flower shot is just fine.
On this, you might try square format? Losing the empty space on the right... Maybe... who knows. :-)

David! No, I didn't pick it. My mother-in-law would KILL me!!! :))
Was actually thinking of naming it something like, 'Chain Lily' or 'Chain of Encouragement' then go into a whole speel about you being encouraged to post your lily by Marion's post, and I was encouraged to post mine because of yours... blah blah blah etc etc ad nauseum... With a view to starting a massive surge in lily uploads!!!
But then I thought better of it ;)
Thank you for your wonderful praise You make me smile :) Cheers!

Thank you Enas. I wondered if the lighter parts of the background would be a distraction. I'm glad you pointed it out.
Thank you also, for your kind advice. It's a relief to know I am not the only one to have those thoughts!

....a tri-tone btw to die for!...as lilies go this is a top holer, as for what to do with it afterward, did you pick the poor little sod, I try and leave them on the bush to wither and pass on naturally....nice composition Rina, did I mention it has been done before,...a bit? just kidding. cheers, david.
