Sorry, Rodney, my "ideal" shots of water are so rare I wouldn't like to search Usefilm for them and I'm not very good at getting them myself. But just look for sparkling water that still has a sense of movement. It is very hard to hit this just right with manual cameras and film. Should be easier with digital because you can keep trying and see the results immediately.

Hi, Rodney. I think all of us like to experiment with slow shutter speeds and fast-moving water. That silky look is so beguiling... but of course it can soon get to look gimmicky. Personally I like to find the shutter sweet spot that stops the water movement well enough to leave highlights without completely freezing the motion, which can make water look like something molded out of plastic. Difficult, but it's great when you can do it! I guess I prefer water to look like actual water...

What a classic capture of a waterfall. Very beautiful 1 sec. exposure. You got a great still day to still pick up a sharp foreground in the foliage. Well done!

Barry, you are absolutely right that I was lucky about the wind not blowing. It was incredibly still with very cloudy skies overhead. I went to the park to take photos of brightly lit colorful leaves on trees and on the ground underneath. With no sun and the leaves past their prime, I tried to take advantage of what nature offered. Great composition and perfect long exposure. You were lucky that the air above the water didn't move the leaves on the branch and this element along with the foreground rock and leaves are a great counterpoint to the rushing water.
