This is my husband's favourite bird. A very good friend of his who has been gone for 7 years now was nicknamed 'The Crow'. It was sort of wierd, but when my husband was presenting the eulogy at the funeral, a crow sat on the window sill for awhile. Crows always remind him of the good rtimes they had together. The detail in this shot is marvelous.

Or a Raven :) The are very hard to tell apart in photos as the only real difference is size, ravens have a 45 inch wingspan and crows 32..
a great capture of a very hard to expose bird either way..

I love these guys...wicked, but clever little devils. Long ago when I lived in California, we had huge crows (probably ravens) that would swoop down, pick up fat walnuts, soar into the sky and drop them onto the street below; then swoop down en mass to enjoy the feast. All during summer, it sounded like a re-enactment of "The Battle of the Bulge."

Great capture once again, Darlene. You caught his curious/clever personality perfectly.

Andre, It might be a crow but he wasn't real big. I thought crows were big, are there some small ones? I looked in my trusty bird book but I only looked under blackbirds. maybe I should check out the crow section!! And I just did, you're right, it is a crow! Sorry.....but thanks for letting me know! Take care my friend and have a wonderful weekend! Darlene

Hi Darlene,
Is that really a "Little Blackbird", or a big Crow?
Most people are going with the title, but it sure looks like a crow to me.
Great exposure on his black feathers BTW.

Wonderful detail in this little guy. You've captured all the lighter tones in his feathers beautifully and the detail inthe branch he's standing on is great. An excellent shot Darlene. Well done.

Cheers - Ann :)

Awesome detail! Such an awesome image. I have problems with white and black feathered or furred animas in that I loose allot of detail. But you nailed it here! Awesome!
