About I recently realized that I never posted this entire sequence. This is the second image in this sequence. The last frame to this sequence will be posted later today. To view the first image view my portfolio.

Taken at the Mavericks Big Wave Surf Champioinship

This image along with some of my others from this event were picked up and used in a feature article on Surfmag.com early last year.

This is the first of three images in a sequence.

I have also written and published an article on the Mavericks Big Wave Championship on my web site - http://www.jmg-galleries.com
I welcome you to read it.

Remakable capture of this giant wave, without the people for reference one would have no idea of the size of it. The surfers here add so much to this composition, especially the one taking a dive. Also like the boiling surf in foreground.

Excellent capture of the moment, Jim! Awesome colours in the waves, too! I think I might have cropped a bit of the foreground foam, just to emphasize the action a bit more.
Congrats on getting your shots published!
Dave.

Hi Jim, this one is probably even more spectacular than the previous one. I will read the story on your site -- in due time. First, I'm going to sit back and patiently wait till the next one. I can't help suppressing the thought that I find the contrast a bit high, particularly in the waves and the background. The definition of the details in the surf don't support this feeling though, but I would've thought / expected a bit more light refracting through the water, giving it a more subtle tone. On the other hand, the image quality is so very high, that I doubt if you've been toying with this. Besides, the sun is almost directly behind you, and the crispness of the tones looks fine to me... Oh well, Can't really put my finger on it, and it doesn't really affect the impact of this photo. Awesome.

Cheers,

Hugo
