Many thanks for your kind words, Tim, and I'm delighted to hear that you've joined the ranks of D70 owners! It's by far the best camera that I've ever owned and I'm getting a great deal of pleasure from using it. I hope you will too!!
With every good wish, Chris

This one just blows right off my monitor Chris! You inspired the purchase of a D70.....and it hasn't let me down. It makes for such great shots i can just upload them with out the tedious PS work i needed to do before.
Your images are consistantly amazing! thanks for sharing.
Cheers, Tim

Good picture, but have you considered to add a bit of drama by cropping it? something like this...

This is a stunner Chris. The foreground textures with the strong lead in makes for a very strong composition. Regards John

Composite or not, THIS goes into my favourites! Absolutely gorgeous. Lucky Hugo to get such a wonderful picture dedication--but yes, he does deserve it. By the way, this picture has quite my most favourite frame of all!

Hi Chris,

very strong colours here as is your style. I love the composition, which is as you know the thing I always look for first. The tractor wheel lines in the crop lead the eye in perfectly as Hugo has mentioned. The fold in the land just below the 'blue thing adds that touch of the unknown, which is so vital in landscapes.

As for the sky, yes its a very dramatic sky, I would maybe have lost the top inch or so to pull the horizon up to the 2/3 line, but thats just me.

I'm impressed by your dedication keeping an eye out for 'Spracklen' skies. Although I always carry my camera its very rare I take a shot purely for the sky.

Good work though, very dramatic.

Good Morning Mr S :-)

Not disillusioned ... just caught off guard :-) I suppose it is good that one breaks away from the norm and that our work does not get stereo-typed. But I will always be looking for the tell-tale Spracklen frames and images :-)

I'm so glad Linn Currie by way of her Birthday wish directed me to your stunning work. Lovely! All of them. Oh and Happy Birthday!

Now I'll be visiting South Africa in a month (not close to Linn... :(... I'll have a layover in London (Heathrowe) for 7 hours... any suggestions? I'm thinking of picking one place to go and doing that with the limited time.

Would that be both originals you'd like to see, Mrs. C.? Because, yes, this is one of those Spracklen composites!!

I took the sky when I was in my car, on the opposite side of a dual-carriageway, and I could only see a tiny bit of land above the crash barriers and roofs of cars! But I was desperate to use the sky, so looked around for some foreground I could attach to it!! The join line is the hedge immediately behind the blue object around left middle.

I hope you're not too disillusioned, but it IS a Spracklen!!

Kind regards, Chris

Well ... everybody seems to like this a lot ... I'm having difficulty accepting this is a Spracklen image! :-)) This is going to take getting used to

Chris ... very impressive - intense colours just like what it normally is just before a storm breaks loose. In your category, you stated photoart ... I would be very interested to see the original :-)

The 'blue thing' was the main reason for me being there, Barry. It's a friend's son's new blackcurrant picker and it shows up much better in the full-res version!!
Thanks for the comment.

Great sky and light. I think I'd have cloned out the blue thing in the middle distance but I love the disparate layers.

Hi Chris, Excellent shot. I'm always astonished by the tones and intensity of colours you manage to produce. Very powerful shot! The cluster of threes just one third complete the composition, add an eyecatcher preventing the eye from wandering off the image, and the tracks, starting right there in the middle of the field, lead the eye perfectly into the horizon and up the next hill. Awesome light and shadows... One of your best yet!

For the record, I don't dislike frams, I only think they should be kept very simple / rudimental, so that it doesn't divert the attention away from the image. I do use framse more often than not too...;o) In this case I do believe that the absence of a frame does justice to the overwhelming beauty of the landscape. Thanks for your kind words!

Cheers,

Hugo

Chris this is magnificent, and a great dedication to Hugo who has been instrumental in helping people on here (myself included).
I am not sure about the joke though - I just hope you know the difference between your "frosties" and your "shreddies" or it could get embarassing lol (sorry it is nearly 0100am on my nightshift - I need to let off some steam lol)
