This image almost looks like it was taken on film.

Wolf,

Were you manually focussing on the object(s) or using autofocus on this and your other "Mars" attempts?

It would be interesting to compare this with an image taken at night, with the same equipment, etc.

Though there is little fine detail due to this being a hand held image capture, I really like the contrast in the final image. It has a dreamy quality.

This one seems a bit over sharpened. The two more recent ones seem much better.

Rich,

Nice job. Have you tried any of these on a tripod?

Very nice idea. I would like to try a similar shot, but with a fisheye lens one of these days.

Nice image. It's always fun watching kids play hockey. They put in much more heart than most of the pros...

To me it seems as if the goalkeeper is visualizing making the save before the play even gets in her end, the sign of a focussed player.

Sergio,

Nice (unplanned) effect. I guess it's next to impossible to hold that XRay flat. I like the prismatic results.

Sergio,

Not bad considering your equipment. I have a partial eclipse sequence in my portfolio, if you are interested.

Sergio,

That's the most important part of the composition, the lone astronomer (me!) at his telescope...

Salvatore,

Considering that this is a mosaic of twenty images at a very long focal length (telescope used as lens) this cannot be compared directly. The induvudual images at their normal resolution didn't look as sharp...

Sid,

Another option is to use electronic flash on the building, if you are close enough...

On July 8th, Venus and the crescent Moon will be in conjunction. An opportunity to catch more than just the Moon in your composition.

Gilberto,

Pretty good for such a short lens, but the contrast could be better.

Gareth,

To get a good image of the moon usually requires a tripod.

Sid,

Most people create these shots with double exposures. The full moon is a sunny 16 (or 11) object, while the building at night is not a "sunny" object. Or you can try to capture the image just around sunset, when the nearly full moon is rising. This takes a bit of planning, and knowing when and where the moon will be at the right lighting conditions.

Ben,

Nice work. Lovely composition. Do you recall the focal lengths of the lenses used (if they were different) for the two exposures?

Carter,

I am not sure, but you may be at the limits here with what you could capture with your lens.

Pierre,

One night I was testing a few lenses with a roll of Superia 800 on my roof in NYC, and when I got prints back, the results were too green for my liking, so I discounted using Superia as an astro film. Later, after doing some checking, it turns out that there was auroral activity that night, visible deep into the South, and I actually caught that on film. I now mostly shoot medium format on slide film (Kodak E200 & Fuji Provia 400), though I may try to get back to some prime focus work soon.
