Amazing. You either see it or you don't. You have an eye that sees through the dull layer of an object and exposes it's real beauty and expression. Still a fan of your abstracts.

Harlan, you have a very abstract and wonderful portfolio. You've truely inspired me to make my next photo project an abstract one. I could have commented on any of your work but decisions have to be made. My comment on this piece:

A truely great abstraction and a fine piece of art.

Thanks for the inspiration and keep up the great work.

It's like having your cake and eating it across from yourself. How can a beautiful photographer shoot a beautiful photographer and not produce something beautiful. The compositon produces curiosity and seduction. I really like this one. Put the subject's beauty aside and it's just innocent seduction and good composition that makes this shot so great. And it's a pleasure seeig you Kim.

When the image expanded on my screen all I could say was, "Wow, Nice". This is a really beautiful shot. Very abstract, very hypnotic, seductive if I can call it that. It leaves you searching inside for more. It held my attention. You should be proud.

A bit unsharp. hhmmm. I think nature has left its artistic impression on this image so sharpness isn't an issue here, atleast for me. The true artist himself, nature, worked with you by adding his own strokes from his paint brush.

This is an excellent piece. Hope to see it as an editor's choice.

The structual pattern of of the wings makes this image very facinating for me. The background environment just lended itself to making complementary colors for a backdrop to the subject. Beautiful shot.

I agree with you, the hose could have been out of site. Lend a blind eye to the hose and the shot is lovely. I like the composition. Maybe you could use the clone tool in PS to see what it would look like with out the hose. Take care.

Really nice work Matthew. I think the B+W medium made this a winner. Very inspiring.

This is a great shot. Very creative. I like your stuff. I only wish more people would rate your photos. Maybe the rating system will catch on soon. Keep the shutter clicking man. Good stuff.

I actually like the "wrong image". I think the added motion animates this lifeless creature and gives it a sort of scary feeling adding more mood. First look gives me the feeling of a disturbed and enraged animal unleashing the bitterness of it captiviy. I really like the original post much better. Keep experimenting.

Thanks for the comments, Sue. I didn't expect any comments and especially so soon.

Well I didn't use anything to enhance the picture quality. I used a Fuji color print film(can't remember which one) and I have no technical data on the shot - I should start taking notes. I wasn't even thinking about filters at that point in time, but now I am experimenting with them. I will revisit this spot in Central Park's botanical garden, this time with slide film and a polarizer - thanks for the idea. And do feel free to play around with the pic, I can only learn more. Thanks again.
