Thank you Roger.
I got your response email on my phone when I was out at dinner, and since then, i could not wait to get back and try your suggestions because this image fought me for a while. Bummer.. when I kept trying get any image out of the darker half of the image. The darn low light just killed me. There's some, but not much detail in the chrome... The more I look at this jpeg, the more bummed I get about not having any information in the hot spots. It's all a learning curve!
Thanks again for your suggestions! Very helpful as always!
cheers, -joel

João,
thank you very much my friend! had a very nice day, thank you, hope you did the same! I shot all day, and had only one 'almost' good image out of 125. Guess it's like fishing... sometimes it's just fun to fish, instead of catching them :)

Way to go, Joel. Canons seem to be pretty good at high ISO settings... nothing wrong with this image in terms of digital noise, and those triangles are very strong. I wonder if the contrast is a bit too strong, though? The chrome on the bumper has no tones to give it surface modeling, making it look less like shiny metal... Just a thought. I would reduce dynamic range in the darker half of the image and then bring down the brightness overall to restore the shadows to the same density. Of course if the highlights are blown, there's nothing you can do to bring them back.

Thanks always for YHO! Always appreciated!!
It's funny, in the small JPEG, the hot spot on the chrome gets all blown out. But I have to agree with you!
Hmm... i guess you're right about starting the bottom a bit higher.. was worried if I did that, that it would throw the center of the image out. I eneded up w/ no crop of straightening in PS (for a change) ...learning to get more in camera to keep the image as sharp as possible. Always learning!!!
cheers! Have a great Sunday!

Well now, this is almost an advert for C (with it you can... LOL) 1600 and no noticable noise... cool. I've tried it with my little big gadet but at 400 the colored dots do begin to appear... ;-D The title is well chosen, but it also applies to/on the shot itself... there's little tone variation and the chrome looks a bit 'blown out', but a good effort and much better than 'flashing' it to death... As for the composition... I get the triangle thing but would've started a bit higher up on the bumper for now you're starting in the black and the first triangle doesn't come out that 'sharp/clean'... well that's MHO... Great effort, neat shot... ;-D Have a great Sunday, PW.

Hi Joel, I like the composition very much! There isn't a lot of noise and no camera shake...very impressive! I bought a VR lens to combat low light problems; I haven't used it a lot yet but love it. Very nice work. Cheers Janet Marie ;-)
