dear stefan,
i forgot, when i was a child and asked such an innocent question with a shrewd face, my mother said:"du schlingel". i don't know how to translate that into perfect english. perhaps somebody can help?
best regards

A very successful depiction of motion (and the joy of childhood, too).

Wonderful shot, Stefan! The motion blur works really well here to illustrate the excitement of the moment, while keeping her face and hair sharp enough to see that great expression! Even the way she's leaning forward adds to the dynamism of the scene. Very nicely done!

I agree that the amount of panning you did here is wonderful. We get the sense of motion and freedom but still enough detail to see the expression on her face. You can keep practicing with panning, but I like this one as it is!

A great capture. I love the motion, makes it a dynamic photo. B&W worked really well with it, I wonder how it would look in color. The grain adds a nice touch to it, I also wonder how it would look without grain.

Well done, keep it up...

Thank you all for the positive comments. I liked the multiple suggestions of motion in this shot, and that her face becames so distinct.

Dave - the vertical lines are from a fence in the background - it lets some light through the slats.

Mary - the right shutter depends on the focal length when you pan. With digital you can keep trying until you have a winner. It helps to track the subject before and after you take the shot. Plus you need a subject who likes to swing :-)

Amazing moment!
Outstanding picture.
Congrats.

Stefan, I have no suggestions as I have not tried an actual panning shot. All I've tried is to let it blur as she moves by using a long exposure. So that the swinger is a blur and the background is stationary. I a like the feel and movement here. In fact, I think I will have to try this myself...funny how the obvious can escape me!

Great balance, dynamic form. Certainly eyecatching, worth framing. A very professional look to what is a memorable family snap! The one feature that I found a little confusing was the vertical lines, I don't understand why those are there.

Very good ! I like it 'cause the child's face is sharp, but you have feeling of motion, speed... Very, very good ! I know how it was hard to capture. Regards from Dusan!
