City - Nampo-dong State - BUSAN Country - South Korea
About
Not knocking the King, but Westernization has left it's ugly and consumer made detritis on South Korea. The other day when I took this photograph I went to the movies and a mobile phone commercial, before it started, summed it all up for me. A group of beautiful young things on a college campus with their new cam-recorder mobile phones and all having a good time togeather, but one. You guessed it he didn't have the right phone. Not only this but the most disturbing aspect of this drive for comsumming the latest product was the story told on the young man's face. One doesn't need to be a clinical psychologist to see that he was going to commit suicide. Like much of the western world Korea it seems is eating it's way into extinction!
This was a striking photo before I read your comments and realized it was taken in Korea. My first thought was the quote from Men in Black - "Elvis is not dead, he just went home."
Having read on, I'm left with the question: Does Korea really need Mickey D's?
A striking and disturbing photo of globalization at work. Well done!
..only in America....I mean...all over the world...sad...not that I don't appreciate who I am but let's get real...keep it here...keep the Korean culture intact and all the other great cultures of the world...not trying to be racist or anything but I appreciate the cultures of the world and only wish others would be proud enough to keep theirs...there are so many great aspects of other cultures...shame to lose them in the name of stuff, stuff and more useless stuff..
