Hi Gyuri, by all means you can reference anything you want from my work, I'll be very honored! It would be so interesting to listen to one of your lectures! Best regards, Ina

I think the title is very good, Ina. Very much in line with modernist paintings. As you know, my research field is word-image relations and I think this is a perfect example of it, also as a postmodern collage. Maybe - with your permission - I could use it in my teaching. (I see you have changed the reference to Babel by now.) Very best wishes, Gyuri

It says double burger 1, double burger 2. And below it is bacon, lettuce and tomatoes. Excellent combine of past, present, and modern hieroglyphics. Funny, too!

Wow, Aram, the political Tower of Babel! - there are so many interpretations to the Genesis story, and the scattering of peoples and languages, the daring and the consequences. I always read with pleasure your insightful, brilliant interpretations :) Best regards, Ina

Very nice "collage" of hard-to-understand signs with the Tower of Babel in the background and your expression that seems (recalling the following words and) regretting what has happened to the Tower:
"But the LORD came down to see the city and the tower that the men were building.
The LORD said, "If as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them.
Come, let us go down and confuse their language so they will not understand each other."
So the LORD scattered them from there over all the earth, and they stopped building the city."
Don't worry, Dear Ina! Such "Master Plans" for that region have since ever been hard to realize!!...

Hi Neal, you're absolutely dead-on! As always! I'm looking at you as you are looking at my picture. Three unlikely objects with no connection, other than me putting them together :) Thank you so much for your insightful comment!

I love your ghostly face in the corner. I'd have thought you were thoughtfully stroking your chin, seeing everything, understanding it all, and marveling over our efforts to solve the puzzle.

Hi Daniel, I'm using the same self portrait again and again, there are another 3 in a series way back. I like this one with the hand over my mouth, it's surprise, disbelief, etc, it seems to work with my views on the subject. Thanks for asking!

I think your observation about the "reflection effect" is exactly correct. Nice observation (and a useful one), I hadn't realized that.

Bravo Ina! I love it! Excellent work! Why have you covered your mouth? Does it mean something?
Awesome!

Hi Mark, first, I thank you for the comment :) Second, I think the reflection effect happens when a light colored object is extended in semi-transparency over a dark colored object, such as the Tower over the black poster. Some of it is covering the dark color, the other side is not. I'm going to look at some reflection shots more carefully, though. This is only my first impression.

The tower looks as though it has been painted on the wall in this shot, which gives it a slightly more grounded and less collage sort of effect than in your "horse" shot. The self portrait appears as if seen as an inside reflection on a glass panel you are shooting through. This is a very interesting effect.
Francesco Francesco has shot a number of actual reflections in storefront windows so that they combine with the window display behind the glass. While I don't believe he's using PS layers in his shots, the effect is similar and quite similarly interesting. I like that effect and would like to attempt it myself but am not sure where to start. But I will mull it over some more, thanks for the inspration Ina!

Thanks Elisa :) I have photographed many graffitti on trains but I liked this "DB" sign - maybe someone from the Canadian Railways knows what it means, I'm sure it has to do with the capacity of the car, or something not very mysterious, anyway.

Hi Ina! You are clearly wondering what the sign means. I love how the colours fit together, as well as the shape of the graffiti with the letters. A mysterious & fascinating work with your name written all over it. I do admire your creativity!
