Hi Ina, You are right about creating a memory of our own feelings. I posted a shot here of the first vehicle that I ever drove. (in a farmer's field) The photo is called "Harvests and Hayrides" or something like that. I have a few of that old truck that brings back some priceless memories. Check in my "At The Cottage" portfolio for this one. Andre

Although these are AAA's we're talking about, the AA's they now make are now leak-proof. I'm not sure about AAA's being leak-proof. I'm glad I could be of help :)

Good advice, Mark, I removed them more than a year ago, I was afraid I'd forget about them and they would leak inside. I have to check now to see if the liyhium is drained! Thanks for the tip, Mark!

Sorry about the late reply, Andre! It's funny that we look nostalgically to old pictures, as you said, but in those old pictures the cars were new! I guess we want to create sometimes a memory of our own feelings, about a past era, which is what old cars stand for :) Best regards, Andre!

.....the camera will still work w/o the lithium memory battery, but it won't remember the last frame number you shot, and the settings from last time (if i rmember correctly). I had the optional AA battery holders (which I sold on auction quickly) and they last a long time.

Ina, please don't remove the AAA's, or the lithium will be drained quickly. Even if the AAA's are almost dead, there's still enough current to assist the lithium memory battery. If your lithium needs to be replaced, all you need are some Phillips screwdrivers, the smallest, one at least #0. The lithium battery is still available.

Mark, do you know what happens when the lithium battery dies, do I need to replace it before that happens? I have removed the AAA's, but I'm wondering about the display panel.

So you still have your 7000? Just store it away with a couple satchels of silica gel and it'll be a collector's item soon. Mine's been sold long time ago so I could acquire some mechanical SRT's and an XE. I regret selling it, but oh well :)

Mark, you can read all about it on DPReview dot com, that's how I found out. First they got out of Canada, and I thought that was a bad move, but now I understand why. I stil have my Maxxum 7000, flash and lenses, all Minolta stuff from 20 years ago :)

With Sony? Great merger; their lenses are Carl Zeiss or Schneider Kreuznach. It would be nice if they made lens mounts for the manual & af, but it's highly unlikely and not a good biz move. I hope someone will always be making 35mm slr's and rf's...and if that's so, a standardized lens mount with adapters for the older mounts should be engineered. I never thought I'd see digital surpass film in terms of image quality and color range. I knew it would come, but so soon? Probably next year, or now, they have a ccd that matches 35mm film pixel for pixel.

Hi Mark - re: Minoltas, they were sold to Sony, so most likely they'll be made but under the Sony name - which doesn't necessarily mean they'll keep the same lens mount to keep old customers happy :-(

They won't be making anymore? That's sad, really. They joined up with Konica for a while to make digitals. I collect old Minoltas, and right now the slr's aren't selling too well on that auction site, but to collectors, that can be a good thing.

Thanks Mark, you're looking at an 8 megapixel full frame, not cropped, slightly color and sharpness adjusted. I love the 20D, and BTW, my last SLR was a Minolta 7000. Sad to know that Minolta is not making cameras anymore, so would these Maxxums becoming antiques too?

Hi Andre, and thanks for your comment :) The painted ones I guess have a different feel, they may even have reflections, the rusty ones have texture, I thought these red ones were nice against the grey wood :) I'll post one version in sepia, too! Best regards, Ina

Hi Ina, The funny thing is I'll do a nice moody image of a 60 year old truck to make it look like a 60 year old photograph, all the time forgeting that the truck would have been brand new at the time :) Andre

Thanks very much Ann, I was so happy to find these, they were like twins, both rusty-red, both pick-up trucks. I took a good number of pictures and will post some more oce I have a chance to process them. This one's pretty much "unprocessed" by my standards, anyway :) Take care and celebrate! Cheers, Ina

Oh yes now that I have a freshly renewed licence I can drive this no problem. :) OK so it needs a little work but I'm sure it'll run like a dream once we put an engine in it - right?! :)
I love these old cars. They have so much texture and character. This one looks like it can almost talk. It would probably say "Where's my eyepatch?" Great DOF here Ina and I like how you've left the orignal colour in the image to appreciate the old wearing paint/rust colour. A really nice perspective and great close up so we can see the name on the hood (or bonnet). Great shot and nice find.
Cheers - Ann :)

Hello Andre, as a matter of fact I have a sepia version! And you're right, I think it brings up the rust texture very well, but still I love the colors in equal amount! Hard to decide :) Best regards, Ina

Hi Andrzej, and thanks for both comments on the Studebakers. It didn't even occur to me (duh!) that this shot was missing a signal light. I had a whole dozen to chose from, and this one appealed to me only because of the background. I hope to post more in the future, maybe more abstract :) Best regards, Ina

Ina, I've seen your "two" first but all my comments still apply, I'm only concerned with the right (car's left) headlight being missed, but I'm happy that some of the frame luster left ;o}.
Nice lines and great composition, the same beautiful colors as on "two" and a fuzzy background that is likely as blurry as his memories now.
Great pictures and very elegant composition. Cool StudyB.
Cheers, n.j
