Mia, I like he mood you captured with this image, kind of teenager in his own world feeling. I do agree with Nan about the contrast. This is a really difficult shot to capture with a digital camera. They have even less exposure latitude than slide film and you hit both ends of the spectrum wtih this image! (I had the same problem with that fish shot you commented on in the bottom where the ice was.)
Nan, unfortunately in digital, it is extremely difficult to recover blown highlights. If you miss with a digital shot, you always want to underexpose. Photoshop does an excellent job of fixing darks, but from what I have tried so far, its nearly impossible to recover hot spots.
