Thanks Stan, I always get a laugh from this one because I remember how I surprised the goose by walking around the bend. I was lucky enough to have him not fly away and at the same time, the people in the canoe were in perfect position for the shot. Sometimes we get lucky :) Andre

Thanks Andree, Yes, exactly! I wonder how strange it must be to have that kind of vision. I suppose it would be a little like seeing out of a 7mm Fisheye lens all the time :) Thanks for the visit and the comment. Andre

Thanks Nick, I liked the idea of the goose being caught in the middle of my camera and the canoe. And he seems to be keeping an eye on each of us! Andre

Unique capture. Love it. Remember that the goose has two eyes, one watching you and the other watching the boat. :) Andree

Even considering the good lick you had, Andre, the picture is a great composition and the ratios of size and distance of the two main things of interest are in a very good proportion to each other. The branches add much to the image, since they bring the feeling of being myself there, watching them paddling away and wating to get out again.
A great moment in nature, and indeed, also a humorous one!
Bravo!

Thanks Doyle, I did get very lucky with the timing on this one! To tell you the truth, I really thought more people would notice this one when I first posted it. You never can tell how it might go with views and comments :) Thanks for visiting! Andre

Wonderful shot with good focal clarity, DOF and the composition is perfect. Very well done. As they say . . . timing is everything!

Thanks Kes, I really did get lucky with the timing of this one. Nothing cloned out at all. Straight from the camera without the branches going through either the gooses head or the canoe :) Andre

Hi Andre, nice composition and capture. The branches frame the bird and the folks in the boat. Amazing "co-operation"! Your DOF keeps the bird in focus and blurs the background, yet there is enough detail in the background to complete the story.
Best regards, Kes

Thanks Marcus, I did get a little lucky with the correct focus. I don't know how many times a shot like this has been ruined by the focus going to some wayward branches instead of the main subject :) I use the auto focus set to "spot" for most of this kind of shot. I find the continuous focus too slow and battery consuming on my Fuji S5000. The manual focus is unbelieveably awkward to use, in situations like this. Andre

Excellent Andre, I like the way you have perfect focus of the goose through the branches, and the boaters through another, this is a perfect moment for the capture, and you got a nice profile shot..

What an excellently composed shot Andre, all the more remarkable for the short space of time given you for it's capture. The details in the bird are superb, the textures in the bark are great and I love the rich blobs of colour of the canoeists so wonderfully framed by the branches. Well done to you my friend....Very best wishes....Ray

Great shot, Andre! Lucky indeed to have your camera ready!!! I love that little pop of muted color that the paddlers add to the shot. I love this!!!!

Hi Dave, That's exactly the way I saw it too Dave! Without the canoe paddling by, all I would have is another common Goose shot. I got very lucky with the timing of this one :) Andre

Thanks Jacques, As you probably know, these geese are very plentiful around here, even to the point of being a nuisance. We can get close-ups of them any time we feel like. But, this opportunity was there only for a few seconds. So, I'm pretty proud of it. Another five seconds or so and the canoe would have been out of the frame, or the goose would have been gone. Not much of a shot left after that.:) Andre

Excellent composition here, Andre! A very good shot of the goose, but with that importand extra in the shot to make it very different from the average. The dof is perfect here, too! Very well seen and captured! Dave.
