About Sunset, Washington DC - just had a chance to slap on the wide angle and take a few photographs.

I have three versions, but this seems to feel right to me because all the flags are blowing just so.

Doyle:

Regarding Strange Perspective:
12mm lens on a D70 is a real b**** when handheld.

Impressive work Michael . . . and the perspective seems strange . . . neither good nor bad really, but strange. I think it's likely because of the enormity of the attempted capture here. The flags seem leveled nicely but the monument cants to the right. A -3 degree tilt makes the monument feel right but don't bother to look at the flags then . . . they're off! I like the posted image . . . even though the second is nice too . . . because the blue in the sky seems more aesthetic to me. I like the third one and think both the second and third do tend to help the centered composition . . . but I think this particular subject can do well even centered . . . and see little choice. Throwing in a sun to help really doesn't (IMO) and I like, besides the graduated blue sky, the subtle silhouettes of people which, when combined with sky make the original posting my favorite of the three.

Doyle I <~~~~~

I coulda sworn I sharpened these. Ah well.

If you are using MS IE to browse, you have to expand the image not to fit in the window - down in the lower right should appear an expand button if you hover over the image for a short time.

Kambiz:

1. Thanks.
2. Yes.
3. I don't know. I'm an engineer man and prefer the Saint Louis Arch.
4. Maybe.
5. Please do.

I think I like number 3, nice seeing the sun and since it is offset from the monument, it distracts from the that fact that the monument is so center focused. It is hard not to be centered focused when you are trying to capture both the monument and the flags without being too distant. Having the sun off center breaks up the composition a little but I think in the second photo, the sun is too far off center. I like that you captured the flags flying in the wind. You might want to apply a little bit of sharpening to the image.. seems slightly soft. good work

nice image
although from thumbnail is similar to a phallic object!!
I wonder why engineer/architecture men love to praise them?
I think they have a give a chance to women to design a better monuments.
Micharl sorry for writing my sincere feeling.
