I can't figure out if they're California Poppys or Ganzania. Probably irrelevant, as it's a beautiful picture anyway you look at it. You just critiqued one of my pictures (New Longhorn) and I thought it was kind of funny, because I grew up in Southern California and now I'm living in the part of the world where you came from. There are a lot of interesting insects in So Cal, but not as many as India. Wish I could go there, they've got some really spectacular species. You might want to try to find some Horned Toads, I haven't seen any pictures of them on any of the photo sites. Once again, a beautiful picture with a unique perspective.

Hi, my friend.
This is just wonderful!! Great your job enhancing the original capture (that was already very good)It is like a very well done underexposion on a film camera, to get the right light efect as you did here. Many congrats from,

What a marvelous shot. The shadows of the petals on each other is absolutely what makes it compelling. Nice colors, composition and contrast...nothing negative here at all!

I love the backlighting on the flowers, it gives the petals such interest! I like the original of this shot also, but I think darkening it adds to the look, as you mentioned.
Regarding your question, yes, the 105mm I use is a macro lens, 1:1 at 1 foot away from the subject. I also use a 60mm macro, but prefer the longer length most of the time.
