This was taken the second Ireland equalised on penalties against Spain in the World Cup. This bunch of people were on the train between Edinburgh and London and were all gathered around the bloke in the bottom right, who has a tiny portable television set. I thought there was some comedy value in the way they were all trying to see the same tiny screen. Very much my first "dabble" in journalism - all criticism gratefully accepted.
Hi Kim, Thanks for the comment. I'm a bit disappointed with this shot to be honest - it seems to have lost a lot of brightness when I turned it greyscale, but also despite having caught the moment when all the fans went mental when the goal was scored, it's not clear what's going on because the TV is so tiny and indistinct. Hmm. Chris.
What might have made this shot a little more clear (the meaning, I mean) would have been to get a little more of the TV in the shot, or by making it a little more prominent. The two people in the bottom right (guy and girl with her arm up) are looking in a different direction and it makes me wonder what they are looking at. It's hard to tell what they are cheering at, although you've done a nice job of collecting them together with the spirit of WORLD CUP on their minds. But with a disposable camera you managed pretty well for a photo jounrnalism shot!
