This statue looks fine from a distance. Its located on the bank of the river Wey in guildford and is of a boatman. Its body is made out of a coil of flattened steel and its only when you get up close that you realise how creepy the face is. There is a passing resmblance to "chucky" from Childsplay. The surface has some very fine detail and the bright day gave plenty of shadows (ideal for this project). I wanted to pick out the eye to heighten the sinister aspect so I kept the film speed slow and the shutter fast so i could use a large aperture and get a narrow DOF. B&W just seemed to suit the image.
