hi, D'! it's funny..i agree with Bill about the burned out spot and here's why..the light and the PS filter you used creates a very silvery tone in the water and in the sky. i see that silvery sky here a lot in CR and i actually first saw it captured in photo form on by Randy DeLucchi who submitted a shot of the California coast here at UF using a Lomo camera (or Holga, can't recall)...anyway, that photo changed me forever and that silver is always in my mind's eye. Your photo has bright silver, tarnished silver, pewter and platinum and some whipped cream clouds and foamy froth on the wave just for good measure. For me, the blown area is just that, blown. It's somehow too strong, too brittle for the thick silkiness of the rest of the image. But Donna, what you like and your vision is most important. This is just my own feeling. Love the wave, the silhouetted lookout with the solitary figure and i even like the surfers..it's a very evocative beach scene. kat~

Donna,
A fabulous shot - I agree with you regarding the burned out corner - in fact, I find them useful (burned out spots that is) on occasion.
In this one, the burned out spot also emphasizes a sort-of magic light and heavenly atmosphere.
I think the only thing I would change (and there arguements for doing it your way - this is certainly preference) is the surfers. I would have chased them off the beach. ;)

Hi Bill, I actually like the light upper right corner, emphasizing the lone person. And also how the image goes on a diagonal from lower left so dark to upper right so light. Of course, I respect your opinion and always value your sharing them. Thanks! Donna

Nice mood, composition but the burned out upper right corner is a bit distracting. Maybe a ND gradient filter may have helped here?
