About This was taken on a very hot summer afternoon from the shoulder of Half Dome in Yosemite. I was situated on the eastern side or the opposite side of Half Dome as pictured in my Half Dome Sunset photo ( http://www.usefilm.com/image/245119.html ). This particular summer was a horrible year for forest fires and the smoky air had an adverse affect on capturing a vivid blue sky. The bad air quality didn't seem to deter a high volume of hikers this day. I unfortunately did not make it to the peak (the only time out of 6 climbs) as my asthma kicked in quite badly from the smoky air. I still can't get over how many people were clinging to the cables to climb Half Dome. This photo was part of a series of photos documenting my girlfriend?s ascent to the peak. More of my work can be seen at http://www.artbeacon.com/jmg-galleries/ . Thanks for your time and comments.

Hi Jim!
I've been missing you for a while... Good job again with very impresive composition and climbers small as ants....

'Careful as a column of ants' ... I hope and that's what it sorta reminds me of from this perspective. I agree with your comment pertaining to the lighting factor and like your write-up on this image. I have photographed the front but never realized the scaling effect of the rock from the back with that 'Chipping Away' look which you have captured so well. Thanks for sharing this piece with us all!

Best of Regards!
