Gayle, great cloud capture. This is called a lenticular rotor cloud...I've only seen one of them. These do not happen very often in Southern California! They make awesome subject matter don't they?

Reminds me of the hovering UFO in background opening of X Files! "Alien-like" is right; sure you weren't capturing something other than cloud formations!
