About I had noticed this dramatic effect as the sun set to the right of the mountains when driving back from a walk a few days earlier. When I saw the same light a few days later I drove back to the spot on a hill, set up the tripod and fitted the Nikon telephoto lens to reduce the apparent depth of the image to produce the layering effect then waited for the approriate light.

Patience does provide its rewards, Barry. I love it when an image or an angle glimpsed stays with me, pushing me to go back and capture it as my own. In this case...SUCCESS!
