dear stefan, not at all, not at all! but you are mistaken, not the duck, it is the steel wheel coming to rescue the moderate will of the wind and the rain before the encounter with green and white the pair of up and over. thank you very much for your fine coment on 'our future flying home' best regards charlie.f.kohn@sixpence-pictures.com // madrid

Hi Becky - thanks for your detailed comments. The "jellyfish" actually had to be inverted with respect to the other critter to be placed like this. My rationale was to have the other critter's "eyes" look at the bulk of it, and given the long tail and geometry of the jellyfish it pretty much had to be oriented this general way... I figured, what goes up must come down at some point. I do want to try a more viscous medium for the dyes, but I'll need to think of something that won't be too expensive to keep tossing out after a drop or two.

Congratulations on another successful idea! I love "The Dye Series" and I think this one is my favourite out of the ones you've posted so far. I saw a creature turning its head too, though I don't think I would call it a duck so much as . . . hmm . . . those turtlely creatures one sees in the Mario Bros. games. ;)
It's curious how inverting the photo's colour creates so much more depth. I feel the red/green photo had very little depth, but this one almost looks 3D. Perhaps it's just the awesome shapes you were able to get here. The fact they look like they're glowing is yet another plus.
The touch of red on the left is great. I like the addition of the jellyfish, however I don't like its positioning. Please bear with me as this might sound a little weird: I get a very strong "floating" sensation from this photo, but I feel it's diminished somewhat because the jellyfish looks like it's plummeting. The way it's pointed straight down creates gravity and it just doesn't feel right to me. If you flipped it vertically or even eliminated it altogether, the slow watery feel would be stronger, IMO.
Just out of curiosity, have you tried using dyes in something a little more viscous? Like glycerin perhaps? I have no idea what result it would produce, but it might be interesting!
This is something I would very much like to have on my wall. I'd stare at it for hours!

Yes! I'm not insane. Or at least I have company. Just showed just the image to somebody by my computer and he said: "ah, a duck" :-) Thomas - I thought of them as claws, but you are right.

hey, you know what? i do see a duck! but, to me, it looks more like an embryonic chicken than a duck. in looking for the "duck" i also noticed that it's wingtips look like birds of prey. the right one is a hawk and the left one a vulture. very cool!

Hi Stefan, Fresh, inventive and very original work! And No, you are not the only one seeing a duck.... ) Exquisite idea. The subtle colours and the black background is very well chosen and exposed, but I'm absolutely hooked on that faint red spot.....;o)
Thanks for your comment, I'm not tall, the shop was a few steps down.... As you might've guessed, I'm struggling with the framing, and I think you (and Thomas) are right in suggesting that a frame is not needed. Thanks for pointing that out!
Cheers,
Hugo

Indeed it?s an alien, but I?m not sure it?s a duck! But I can see the eyes staring at the victim - whats next move? A quiet and still moment before.... This is nearly perfect and I like it a lot. Is there only one... /jeanette

stefan, this is wonderful! at first i thought this was smoke. esp. the blue one. very original. thanks for your comment on the stone face. i agree with you re: the colors. this is why i underexposed. unfortunately, it was just about noon on a cloudless day, and the light was just too harsh.
