About Playing with some newly acquired filters on sunny spring day along Grand Blvd. While I like the original colour version, I like the textures created by the toning even more.

I'm not sure about more contrast - now everything looks yellow (just kidding!)
I like this approach where the flower moves into the plane of focus in two different places. Seriously, I thought your initial submission was dead on. That slight feel of grain helps impart softness to the image as I see it.

Thanks for the comment Dirck - I definitely prefer the higher contrast suggestion. :)

I do like the toning you chose here, but to me it kind of lacks 'oomph' (nice technical term, eh? :) I don't know if it's a slightly richer tone I'm looking for, or a touch more contrast... the latter, I think, especially around the stamens so as to differentiate them a bit more from the tone of the petals.
The texture is lovely and subtly soft, and I really like the sharp edges of the two petals and the anthers (had to look that one up!) The patch of dark at top-left caught my eye right away, but I think it provides a nice balance to the dark 'well' of the flower's center - maybe lighten it a little to match the brightness of the center? Really quite a lovely image!
