A fine series you've made here, i like the toning and the atmosphere. This one is the one i like the most.. great DOF here.

Hmmm. Although it uses the diagonal setup of the first and the setup of the second, I think this photo stands out a bit, as the DOF is a tad too shallow. The softness in the branche's top right corner doesn't quite fit within this series, I think. Of the three, it's the least intriguing and least challenging shot to look at. A nice one, but especially in comparison with the first of this triptych, it fades a bit into the background.

Cheers,

Hugo

Thanks Tom, I do know what you mean. Either more (Kim) or less (you) DOF on the vanishing part of the branch is what is needed here. It is a little wishy-washy as it is presented here...

stefan, simple and straightforward. just the way i like it ;^) simple lines intertwining... however, i feel the compostion could be improved had you increased the focal angle to te branch. i'm not sure if that's even a term, nevermind a proper one. what i mean is a less perpendicular angle to the branch showing a bit more distance to exagerate the dof effect. i think i'm babbling so i'll leave it at that ;^)

take care,
tom

Great lines in this one, with the twisting bark and the diagonal line through the bg. I wish there was a little more DOF to have the entire log in focus with the background still out of focus.
Well seen with the curving bark... really adds that extra element!
