Hi Becky - you are in good form today. The suggestion about toning down the foilage may be just what this image needs. Thanks!

The more I look at this photo, the more I like it. At first glance, I felt it might have been a bit too busy, but there's a tension and a beauty here that really draws me in. The selective focus is perfect - just enough to supply context but not overwhelm us with it. I really like how you've turned something small and seemingly insignificant into something large and dramatic; the low angle helps with that, I think.
The crispness of the water is wonderful. It almost looks like ice. I'm somewhat enamored with long exposure water shots, but I'm glad I don't see it here. It would be a much different photo I think, and possibly not as effective.
My absolute favourite part is the leaf and how it's half brown and half green. It looks like it's drawing life out of the water, rather than slowly dying . . . very cool!
My one small suggestion would be to perhaps tone down the bright green/yellow foliage near the top of the photo, just so your subject doesn't have to compete for attention.

Dear Stefan,
great title and subject. really like the natural colors here and the strong DOF. The leaf stands against the very dynamic water. nice seen and captured. great detail on the leaf with 1/50 and f/5.6. take care, thilo

Really fine. Textures turn me on, and this photograph has a beautiful textural marriage: the dry crispness of the brown autumn leaves and the running wetness of the black rock. I like it a lot. What an interesting idea: the marriage of wetness and dryness ... Rgds, Svend

Hi Steff - no wet feet - there was a ledge right next to this little fall.

Hi Tom - as a matter of fact 1/25 s and 1/3 s was among the things I tried - the built-in 3 stop ND filter in this camera is really handy for this kind of thing. Didn't have the tripod so they are a bit shaky, plus focus is not what it should be.

Damned stunning. Really exquisite. I know that's not really what you'd call a constructive critique, but I don't have anything critical to say about it :-]

stefan, beautiful shot! nice and sharp with excellent dof (as usual). did you perchance shot this at a slower shutter speed as well? it might add a bit dynamism to the image. raging summer vs. calm spring.
take care, tom
