This was taken in the desert of Rajasthan (India). The peacock is native to India and is the official bird there. Peacocks in India are like roosters in the west in as much as they wake people up with the most amazing cat-like call at sunrise. No doubt they are the most beautiful of tropical birds and are rather difficult to photograph at close range in their natural wild habitat.
As a sidenote, if someone says "peacock", then they must be referring to the male of the species as peacocks are never female (how's that for trivia?)
Many thanks for your comment on my swan picture, Pradeep. This is the first photo of yours that I have looked at; I love any photo with blue in it, but this is beautiful. The depth of focus is perfect. However, if I had taken this, I would have been tempted to sharpen the area around the feet a little, to complete the image?
The female is called a 'peahen', at least in England anyway. And yes, they do make a great deal of noise early in the morning, as I discovered on a camping holiday once....
The thumbs for your other images look tantalising, I look forward to viewing!
Why have you no bio? Your English is perfect. Better than mine in fact!
Pavo cristatus, is the national bird of India, yes!! Great portfolio and I like this beauty the best. Attached is the female (adding to your trivia ie!) referred to as Peahen with its juvenile. For real birds of paradise, see: http://www.camacdonald.com/birding/Sampler6_Crows(BirdsofParadise).htm
