what stunning coloration Michael, your composition is simple but very effective.
P.S. got my lens fixed..so i hope my shots will be a little clearer......just got to quit vibrating while i shoot, lol

Agree on all your points, but the object on the left is the name plate for the thermal feature. It is out of place - man made.
Yeah - another object to think about and include or exclude. Did not really see it until later and I did not want to clone it out.
Did not think this was one of the best, but I had not been shooting for a while and was starting to reach for something to post.
You caught me!

Hi Michael, On first glance this is a Top Notch Shot; Looking more closely, I noticed the object on the left; which looks completely out of place. I think if you placed more emphasis on it, it might've increased the tension in this shot but in order to do so, I think it should be more prominently positioned. The proximity to the left edge makes it more of a distraction to me.
So maybe it's not quite Top Notch, but still a very beautiful shot. Love the tones and, in essence, the composition. The combination of colours is fantastic. Impressive show case of the geothermal springs....

michael, another gorgeous spring. this one is particularly attractive as it has 2 sources joined together. i like the saturation although it may have pushed the trees in the background a bit too far. or is that from the ol' unsharp mask? not sure if it was possible, but i wonder what it would look like had you composed it with the front spring towards one of the lower corners of the frame, thereby giving it more "room".
this one looks like it would look incredible from an elevated perspective. not too high, but maybe up 10-15 feet. i know, it's not possible. i don't think the rangers would be too keen on letting folks bring in 12 foot ladders and such ;^) but it would be cool, wouldn't it? great photo, regardless.
