I like it a lot, including the composition which manages to integrate foreground, middle and background very nicely. Thanks for all the technical detail - very interesting and educational for me.

Very nice and serene capture here. Compositionally this is very strong, using the classic S curve of the land mass. The colors and hues work together very nicely to produce this tranquil and peaceful setting, from a dream.

Serge, I use the 81B for a few of reasons: The main reason is that I shoot both film and digital and I often set up the film shot with the digital camera then just move the filter over to the other camera. The second reason is that I like to create a scene in camera and this means getting the colour balance and light how I want them. The third reason is that any colour manipulation in Photoshop or by using anything other than the default colour balance in camera can cause noise. This is a subject covered in some depth in a recent issue of Amateur Photographer.

May I ask you about filters? If you shot in RAW mode, you can just decrease exposition or decrease lights, etc. 81B is very easy to emulate in PS, R=250, G=228, B=181. What real advantages of filters usage? TIA Regards, Serge

Really impressive. It gives a sense of "quiete before the storm". 45 seconds is really a slow and hard shutter time, compliments for the patience ;)

Beautiful composition! It sounds as if you had an awful lot of glass in front of the lens, but obviously that wasn't a problem here.

Great effect Barry!! Excellent composition. I like the way the log leads your eye to the hills in the background. Well done indeed! Gord
