About I finally found time (and we finally got the weather...) to go out into the Polish countryside and capture some classic Polish winter scenes.

These trees are typical, and are so overbearing. And that's the effect I wanted in this image. This was taken just 10km from the centre of Warsaw, still on the city bus routes.

Hope it works in B&W - I prefer this version but think it also looks good in colour. If you come to look, I would appreciate any comments, whatever you think...

Lovely. I also like the version below with the whiter snow. Very pleasing mood and composition.

Hi AJ,I over-exposed your foto (hope you don't minde) to make snow whiter.I think it's better now.Snow is white like it spopose to be.
Thank you for your visits and comments.

Nice composition, good DOF,although snow should be whiter.Snow always presents a problem to a camera meters,as the vast areas of white reflect any existing light. If a normal meter reading is used, the snow appears a muddy grey.By over-exposing the shot by between one and two stops, the snow becomes burnt out and looks its natural white.

Nice composition and great range of tones. You say you prefer it in B&W, I'd actually be interested to know what it'd be like with a bit of a bluish colourisation, if it would emphasise the the sombreness of the scene. Just a thought. Nice work as it is anyway.

Hi AJ
I agree with Paul - a lower take on these magnificent trees would have delivered a much stronger statement. I like your B&W but am wondering if you tried adding a gradient ... something moody, something ominous?

I think it would have made a stronger photo if you had crouched lower, with a slight tilt up of the lens.
